Bulstrode update Nov 2008 |
The new buildings for Bulstrode, the UK headquarters, are nearly finished! The building company, Tuskar, has done an excellent job.
God, in His faithfulness, has provided all we need. Our Father has provided £1.35 million so that we might fulfil His will for WEC UK. In today's financial climate this is staggering! Please take a moment to praise Him for His faithfulness, and take this as an encouragement to your own faith.
Now, though, it's a transition time.

Burkina Faso's Evangelical Protestant Church was pioneered and nurtured by WEC workers. Now it is thousands strong.
From 1936 onwards, Jack Robertson and other pioneers pedaled thousands of miles by bicycle to take the Good News around the remote villages of Upper Ivory Coast (later known as Upper Volta, and now Burkina Faso). Bouroum Bouroum was their base to reach out to the animistic Lobi and Birifor people.
Spirit worship and traditional practice were strong but slowly the Evangelical Protestant Church grew. Simple meeting places were built from local materials. A Bible school began using local languages. By 1973 there were some 170 believers and five pastors.

A special report on the North African church
North African Christians all experience social persecution in different degrees. Family or neighbours pressurize them with "You're wrong. You're a shame to our community." Relationships are cut off or damaged. So Christians tend to keep a low profile in order to live in peace.
They often leave their small communities and go to larger towns where they can be more independent and anonymous.

A gospel choir church-planting in Japan |
Rakusei church is one of the most inspiring churches I’ve seen in Japan. It has young, middle-aged and older members, and lots of new Christians. A few regular attendees are non-Christians. Overall we are about 10 children and 30 adults.
One of the secrets is having a mid-week gospel choir. Ever since the film Sister Act, African-American style songs have been a hit in Japan. People search for <gospel choirs in Kyoto> on the internet and find us easily.
