Is God calling me to be a missionary?
If you are being probed with this question, and find yourself stuck between discerning God's will and a 'one way ticket to Tarshish', WEC's Mission and Me weekend is an opportunity not to be missed.
Why mission?
The purpose of the weekend is to help people who have
expressed an interest in, or feel they have been called to, overseas
mission.
It aims to answer all those frequently asked questions such
as:
- Is God really calling me to overseas mission?
- What can I do with my
gifts, skills and training?
- What sort of people are mission agencies
looking for?
- What sort of training do I need to preach the gospel
overseas?
- What does WEC
international do about finance?
Why me?
Mission and Me is a great chance to talk to others in the same boat!
The course will be full of like-minded people with whom concerns can be
shared and prayed through. Also on hand are experienced missionaries
who will be more than happy to have informal chats, answer questions
and offer guidance.
Culture calls!
At some point in the weekend guests will be given the chance to
participate in a cultural evening. In a lighthearted way these evenings
offer a taste of life abroad, and also touch on the challenges of a new
culture.
No pressure!
Don't feel that coming on this weekend means you have to dust your
sackcloth down just yet!
This isn't God's 21st Century answer to
man-eating whales. There is no contract to sign. Mission and Me
organisers are anxious to make their guests feel at ease and assure
them that they are not going to be coerced into signing papers that
will curtail their activities for the next forty years.
Where? When? How?
The weekends are held at least twice a year, usually at WEC Centres in Buckinghamshire and Yorkshire, but some are also held in Scotland and Ireland. These weekends are for those who have expressed an
interest in overseas mission with WEC.
