Bulstrode redevelopment update June 2008 PDF Print E-mail

window frames and insulation material stacked inside 'Bulstrode [the WEC UK Headquarters] has to be a centre where Christians can come, meet with God, and be inspired with missionary vision and zeal.' This, expressed in a recent conference, is what all our hard work and prayer is about!

As you can see from the latest pictures the building is going well and the scaffolding has come down! What remains is the internal work.

The internal work

In one way this may be like our walk with the Lord – He is teaching us much about ourselves, though a lot of this is hidden and not outward.

Bulstrode redevelopment logo Here at Bulstrode we have had quite a few discussions to decide what type of finishes we would like, colour of flooring, materials for doors or skirting boards, type of kitchen and bathroom fittings, colour of tiles and so on.

Once we have made the decisions we will then add this into the building. In other words, at the moment these things aren’t there and we have to add them in. In this way, the internal work on the building is very unlike the internal work on us.

We need not seek the Lord for 'more'!

In Ephesians 1:3 we read 'Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.'

We need not seek the Lord for 'more' as we have the fulness of God within, through the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit. What we do need is an increasing revelation of that truth, and an increasing liberty in Christ to trust Him to express who He is through us.

In other words it is putting ourselves into the hands of the 'master builder' and allowing Him to
show us around the building – which is a perfect showhome! Letting Him whisper to us, 'In this room you have … abundant grace, mercy, love or  In this room you have … complete and unconditional forgiveness, and salvation through faith in Christ.'

We then, with our eyes more fully open, dwell in the house in all its glorious completion and marvel at what a great job the builder has done!

Trusting Not Trying book cover Possess our possessions

If you have yet to read the new WEC publication Trusting not Trying by Neil Rowe, can I encourage you to do so?

He quotes Norman Grubb, a past WEC leader, who wrote:

My need therefore is not to have more,
But to possess my possessions.
To know who I am, not who I ought to become.
Not to acquire but to recognise.

Our effectiveness as Christians is fundamentally tied to our understanding of who we are in Christ – not who we wish we were or hope to be one day! As you pray for the redevelopment ask God to bring you a greater understanding of this truth as well. book cover of Why on Earth A Mansion by Mary Rowe
