Bulstrode update December 2007 PDF Print E-mail
Bulstrode redevelopment themeThe WEC Headquarters, a Victorian mansion called Bulstrode in Buckinghamshire, is undergoing a £1million+ redevelopment in 2007 and 2008. A challenge in itself, this is also a provocation for members and friends of WEC UK to seek God afresh. UK Director John Bagg shares his latest monthly letter.

We are now meeting each Tuesday and Thursday lunchtime, setting aside this time to fast and seek the Lord. In essence we are saying ‘We want you to move Lord, and it means more to us than eating!’

As a result, the Lord has been speaking in a number of different ways. This in itself demonstrates something about our Lord that we can overlook or take for granted. The Living God, who created the universe, who sustains all things through the power of His word — is sustaining us through the power of His word. What grace! What an honour for us to have a living, vibrant and personal relationship with Him.

How important the process is! Please feel free to join us at these times wherever you are, and if you live locally then please feel free to drop in to Bulstrode as well.

A time to keep, a time to throw away, a time to recycle

A quick glance over the site will show that the walls of the old buildings have now been levelled to make way for the new. There are so many tempting comparisons between the actual process of construction and our own walk with the Lord — but here is just one. While preparing for this project we needed to look through the old buildings and decide what to keep, what to recycle and what to discard.

As any of us embark on a new season with the Lord we too need to look at our lives and decide how we need to change in order to accommodate what God is doing. What do we need to keep? What do we need to recycle or change into a more useful thing? What do we need to let go of?

These are very challenging issues that can only be sorted out as we are led by the Lord, and as we act in obedience to His leading. When He speaks we act — simple! Isn’t it?!

Please pray

  • For safety for the workers on site.
  • For good relationships with the Contractor and the workers. This is an opportunity to demonstrate the substance and reality of our faith.
  • For us all, that we will be refined, and that we might know greater depth and tenacity in our prayer lives.

God bless,
John & Pauline Bagg
