Bulstrode update March 2008 PDF Print E-mail

thumb_bulstrode_redev_des.jpgAre you fed up with praying for this yet? It is normal to embark on such a great adventure with much enthusiasm, only for the passage of time to remove our enthusiasm.

At this point we then might find ourselves in one of two places. We might give up and stop praying, or we might continue praying but with no passion.

The only way to be sustained is by a sure knowledge that this is God’s plan and not ours, and by allowing Him to nurture in us a passion for Him and His purposes, namely the extension of His kingdom and the salvation of the peoples of all nations!

A journal

At Bulstrode we have been keeping a journal as we have been fasting and praying through this project, and there are a number of themes that the Lord has been bringing to us. We need to keep these in mind, as we are ever mindful that what we see, and what we are involved in is only a tiny part of all that our Father is doing.

Over the next few months I would like to start sharing some of these with you all, as I believe they are relevant for us all if we are seeking to be obedient to His calling on our lives.

#1 — Focus on the character of our God

Any venture undertaken for God must have Him at the centre in any and every way. Any reporting might report detail but must also point people afresh towards Him. I hope that each one of us has that sense as we continue through the next few months.

We will, no doubt, have been well taught about the character and nature of God. For instance we may know, intellectually, that He is faithful, but God is a living God who delights to reveal Himself to us. He wants to show us, and for us to know experientially, that He is faithful. Faithfulness is but one aspect of the nature of the Living God whom we know and serve — but as we walk in obedience to Him He expresses the wholeness and completeness of who He is. Our finite minds might latch onto one aspect, but He can only express Himself in all His completeness— so in all of this He is expressing to us His love, His holiness, His truth.

So where does this leave us? Quite simply in awe of God. His nature and character overwhelm us afresh and we are left gazing upon Him in all His freshly revealed Glory and we open our mouths in praise. In this way all the honour goes to Him — and that must be the highest reason for continuing in faith in this project.

God bless,
John & Pauline Bagg
