My faith is nothing more than the single-minded and persistent pursuit of a person, the author and perfecter of my faith, Jesus.
Reading through the gospel accounts, I was struck afresh that I do not 'know' the Jesus that was being spoken of. Though I enjoy what I take to be a vibrant and living relationship with Him, I realised there is an 'otherness' about Christ.
I have 'met' this Jesus at times, when I have prayed for people who have been healed, when people have been saved as I have preached, or when other miraculous things have happened, but I desire to know Him, the One I read about in the gospels, in an ongoing and increasing way.
I believe faithful obedience is one of the keys that will unlock my understanding and experience of Christ, because this means that He will take me to places and circumstances in which He can reveal Himself – and this is for my benefit!
Single-mindedness
This leads me to a second point. In Matthew 11:7 Jesus challenges
John's disciples with the question 'What did you go ... to see? A reed
swayed by the wind? .... A prophet?' John had a message, and worked
faithfully to deliver it, whatever the cost.
When God's people are single-minded in their pursuit of Christ and His
purposes, above all else, it demonstrates something of the glory of
God, and that attracts others.
We have a message to declare, the unfinished task of evangelisation, and we make no apology for investing all we have and
are into the fulfilment of this task. We encourage any who share that
same passion and burden to join us.
Pressing on
We know that, like Paul, we have never arrived, so we press on.
The first phase is fully paid for and nearing completion. Praise God. But we cannot afford to stop and take a breath. We need to press on.
I make no apology for including the vision for the redevelopment of the headquarters again – please pray that this vision will burn brightly
before us. That we will grasp it as excitedly now as when we first
started, and that we will see it through to completion. Pray over it
again and again until it is burned into our hearts, and spurs us to
action. And all this for the glory of God.
If, as you read this, you want to know how you could get involved then please contact me – there is much to be done.

The vision
The vision for the redevelopment of WEC HQ can be summed up as follows:
'This mansion is to be a centre where Christians can come, meet with God, and be inspired with missionary vision and zeal.'
To do this we need to:
-
Develop existing facilities here at the HQ and new programmes of activity or events.
-
Develop new organisational structures within WEC UK and the premises to enable us to run these new programmes or events.
-
Deepen our resolve to know personal and corporate renewal – ultimately
it is 'Christ in us' who affects change in others – events or
facilities will not be sufficient on their own!
Prayer points
-
Pray for wisdom as we plan the next phase of the redevelopment.
- Pray for more staff to join us here at the HQ to see this vision
come to fruition – caterers, events managers, maintenance staff – all
whom the Lord would have come! Is God perhaps speaking to you?
- Pray that in an unsettled world, we would testify clearly to the
solidity of our faith and confidence in Christ – and that this would
attract others.
