lads writing songs in Cambodia1) South Asia (3 months, open timing)

One or two people are needed for any one of several opportunities. The earliest opportunity is to visit South Asia for 1-3 months. There is great scope tobeing part of a church planting team, learning language at an excellent school, learning instruments and music and contributing to the work by conducting surveys or recording and collecting songs.

2) Middle East (1-3 months in late 2009)

This is an exciting opportunity to survey the music of a particular people group, with assistance from good local English speakers. A music degree is preferred. Ethnomusicology and ethnodoxology training tailored for this visit will be conducted in England before the trip.

3) Middle East (from 2 weeks to 2 years)

Gifted musical performers are needed to join an experienced performing ministry in the Middle East for a period from 2 weeks up to 2 years. More details available on request.

The dates for 4 and 5 above and other opportunities are negotiable, but some time in 2009-2010. The requests are mainly for song creation workshops. You would help in some music surveying, assisting in theworkshops especially.

4) Japan (open timing)

This is mainly a trip for cross-cultural musical exposure and music survey. We are looking for 2-3 people who are (jointly) gifted in Euro-American musical performance (classical, gospel or popular) and general church musicianship. As well as learning about Japanese styles, engagement with Japanese music needs to take into account the influence of non-Japanese genres. For example many Japanese enjoy singing in English (karaoke, black gospel). Applicants should be eager to cross musical boundaries, engage in mature discussion about worship music forms and have some ethnomusicology / ethnodoxology training. It is expected that some pre-trip preparation and training in cross-cultural musical issues will be done at the UK Resonance base.

5) Asia (various countries)

Other options exist, with a more open timing. Please ask if you have a special country or ethnic people group on your heart.

6) UK-based team (1 year or more)

We are looking for a musical support team to be formed, to be made up of musicians, artists, admin and pastoral support staff. These team members would become members of WEC International and would be based near to Leeds, England. Depending on their personal gift-mix, team members could be involved in recruitment, vision casting, worship leading, song writing, recording, application processing, member care, research and promoting music and the arts in mission.

Costs

Please write in to ask. Expenses vary according to location, sinceinternational travel is a major component of the expenses. You will need to be self-funded on this WEC Trek. This could be an opportunityfor a wonderful adventure of faith to share with your church'sleadership andmembership, as well as friends and family.
