» Rich in Christ – established in love

Let’s use this passage for meditation and as a basis for our praying:

‘For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge — that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.’  Ephesians 3:14-19

Population 5.5 million, nearly 5 million Muslims

Last July the Uzgen region was featured in Worldwide Xtra. Some view this as the darkest, most fundamentally Islamic region of Kyrgyzstan.

Since the collapse of the Soviet Union about 200 men and women from Uzgen have made a decision to follow Jesus. Due to persecution, many have turned away from the faith. The majority of those who remain live in different parts of Uzgen and have no fellowship. The Lord, however, has given some of them a vision and desire to meet together.

Let’s pray again for the believers in Uzgen:

➜ Pray for them to be strong and for many to be added to their number.
➜ Pray that they may be grounded in the word of God.
➜ Pray for those who exercise leadership, and give support and encouragement to  other believers.
➜ Pray for them in the light of Hebrews 12:2-3:
‘Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.’

Population nearly 16 million, 8.5 million Muslims

The Kazakh church continues to grow. From virtually no Kazakh believers in 1990, there were about 15,000 in 2010. They meet in over 100 Kazakh-speaking congregations. Kazakhs are taking on greater leadership in churches and reaching out cross-culturally in significant numbers.

➜ Praise God for what he is doing in Kazakhstan.
➜ Pray for further church growth and discipleship.
➜ The complete translation of the Bible is now available. Pray for its distribution, and for God to use it powerfully in the lives of everyone who reads it.
➜ Alcoholism and drug addiction are widespread; as is family breakdown and corruption. Pray for Christians to have a transforming effect on society.
