Resonance
releasing heart worship
Resonance helps believers worship God using the music and arts which resonate best in the believer's own culture. Music and art may be universal but musical styles and idioms are not; they are wonderfully diverse and culturally shaped.
Trying to worship God in a style foreign to us is like trying to drink soup with a fork – most gets missed!
On the other hand, singing worship to God in familiar musical forms frees our hearts to 'worship in spirit and in truth'. Musical instruments are often valued as an emblem of a people group's identity, or are associated with storytelling or praise song traditions.Learning a people group's musical and artistic language helps missionaries to connect and communicate the gospel message more effectively.
Whether the Resonance team is learning local instruments, leading multicultural worship, or inspiring new believers to compose songs in their own heart-music, they want to see believers worshipping from deep within their heart.

Cross-cultural music training
Internships for skilled musicians, performers, researchers or songwriters. Learn to resonate with Christians from another culture! Internships combine cross-cultural music and arts training with a field trip overseas or in the UK.
Overseas trips
Two teams will have the opportunity to use their musical and artistic talents in Cambodia and in Spain this summer, 2 July–10 August 2012.
I fell in love with the people and their music. In fact I am still in touch with many of them, and I have a new release of creativity in me as well. Praise God!" Resonance intern
Serve longterm
Resonance require a cross-cultural arts training specialist to help others use music, dance or drama to praise God and reach different cultures. They also want to hear from music recording engineers and those keen to develop or be involved with ethnomusicology. More details on WEC jobs page
Curious about ethnodoxology?
International Council of Ethnodoxologists lists almost every available link in music and the arts in mission, while London School of Theology and All Nations Christian College offer courses in music and ministry.
