Briefings: The Balkans

This 'Briefing' untangles the recent story of pioneering Christian faith in the countries and statelets in the Balkans region: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Kosovo, Republic of Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia and Slovenia.

All these experienced economic collapse and political upheaval after the fall of communism. The former Yugoslavia disintegrated through four wars in a single decade.

Existing church denominations seemed to be part of the problem, while newer evangelical groups struggled to find a foothold. Yet thousands of people have found new life in Christ, with the strongest Christian movements among the poorest and most despised peoples.
